Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 18, 2026
1. Who we are
Owner-Built Barndo (the "Service") is operated by Christopher Allen, an individual ("we", "us"). When you use the Service or buy a product, you are contracting with Christopher Allen.
2. Acceptance
By creating an account, purchasing, or continuing to use the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction, or have authority to bind the organization you represent.
3. The Service
The Service provides an educational guide to planning and building a barndominium as an owner-builder, printable checklists, an interactive planner, and (with Owner-Builder Pro) project management tools such as a budget tracker, bid comparison, permit and inspection tracker, schedule, milestones, and notes.
Information only. Building codes, owner-builder eligibility, permits, engineering, insurance, and contractor licensing vary by location. Content is general information, not professional, legal, engineering, or financial advice. Cost figures are estimates. Always verify requirements with qualified professionals and your local authorities before acting.
4. Accounts
Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Keep your login credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account.
5. Licence and restrictions
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal use within the product you purchased. You may not resell, redistribute, or publicly share paid content, reverse engineer the Service, or circumvent access controls or technical limits.
6. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the Service, including by:
- using it for any unlawful purpose;
- fraud, spam, or impersonation;
- infringing anyone's intellectual property;
- interfering with security — uploading malware, probing for vulnerabilities, or scraping.
7. Intellectual property
We retain all ownership of the Service and its intellectual property, including the guide, checklists, software, documentation, and branding. You keep ownership of the project data you enter; you grant us a limited licence to host and process it solely to provide the Service to you.
8. Payments, subscriptions, and refunds
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Payment, billing, taxes, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms and our Refund Policy. The DIY Builder Guide is a one-time purchase with lifetime access to the current guide and printable checklists. Owner-Builder Pro renews monthly until canceled; canceling Pro does not remove a separately purchased lifetime guide.
9. Service availability
We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is", without implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. When access ends you may request an export of your project data within 30 days, after which it may be deleted.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages (including loss of profits, data, or goodwill), or for building decisions you make. Our total liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where the law does not allow it.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
13. General
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the seller resides. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We may update these Terms and will post changes here.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent through the contact details on your account page.
